Flower Scents

Stores have a wide variety of home fragrance options, from flameless candles, to plug-ins, and sprays. The question remains, is releasing all of these artificial chemical compounds into your home to cover up odors really beneficial to you as a consumer? There is an alternative that most people overlook… cut flowers!
Flowering plants produce chemicals that evaporate into the air and produce their fragrances. These chemicals, however, are all natural and available all around us. There are many different scents out there that can add a nice fresh touch to your home, no matter what your taste may be. Florists around Ontario suggest the following few tips for scenting your home.
For a light, fresh scent, fill your home with cut daisies, chrysanthemums, and roses. Buying local roses instead of imports would give you a more fragrant flower. This is because some of the imported flowers’ fragrance is lost during shipping.
If you prefer a stronger scent, try using freesia, heliotrope, or lilies. Pink stargazer lilies and white casablanca lilies have a pungent perfume which can be offensive, and are sometimes not used in hospitals for this reason. However, if you like their scent, one stem per room is more than enough to fill your home with fragrance.
To bring the sweet scent of summer indoors, use lily-of-the-valley, peonies, or stocks. Each of these cut flowers have a true floral aroma and add a soft touch to each room they are in.
Not only will these flowers bring a great aroma to your home, but they will keep you smiling every day! It has been said that receiving flowers can reduce your stress level for up to 4 hours. Look for Ontario flowers in your store today!
